The Paradigm Initiative Nigeria Project

Paradigm Initiative Nigeria started with a discussion between friends. Concerned about the obvious rate of illiteracy and lack of involvement of youth in Information Society processes, the initiative sought to fill the existing gap by equipping youth with appropriate Information and Communication Technology skills while also linking them with opportunities to develop themselves, join in the task of nation building, give expression to their talents towards the need for regional cooperation, and ensure global participation.

Paradigm Initiative Nigeria is volunteer-based, youth-led, flexible, online-driven and practical in its approach. This initiative has, since 2001, moved in the direction of this ambitious task.

Paradigm Initiative Nigeria’s volunteers, though active in their respective organisations, remain committed to the ideals and values of our collective effort, and hold dear the dream of a New Nigeria. And as expressed in the second stanza of our national anthem, “O God of creation, direct our noble cause. Guide our leaders right and help our youth the truth to know…”

Vision and Mission
The PIN Vision is to contribute to the building of a new generation of Information and Communication Technology literate Youth in Nigeria with a personal commitment towards Self-development, National Responsibility, Regional Cooperation and Global Participation.

Our Mission is to empower Nigeria's Youth with appropriate ICT skills that will promote Self-development, National Responsibility, Regional Cooperation and Global Participation

Values

PIN ascribes to the following values:
I. Integrity: We strive to be good stewards of the resources entrusted to us; loyal to our partners and stakeholders; transparent in our operations, forthright in our decisions, ethical and principled in the conduct of our operations.

II. Responsibility: WE commit our lives to the emergency of the new Nigeria that promotes self-development, National responsibility, Regional Cooperation and Global Participation while upholding the PIN’s Vision.

III. Innovation: We live our life promoting creativity and innovation among the Nigerian youths.

IV. Synergy: We believe in the philosophy “Together Everybody Achieve More”. We, therefore, seek to liaise with other youth ICT4D led initiatives in the execution of our projects.
