PIN Announces Non-Profit Employee Motivation Program (NEMP)

WHAT is NEMP?
The role of non-profit organizations in developing economies’ socio-economic development cannot be downplayed. However, staffs of non-profits (like staff of any other institution) need continuous capacity building for improved productivity. After careful consideration for a major need we have seen in the non-profit space in terms of employee motivation, and following some successful work done in this regard, we are pleased to introduce the Non-profit Employee Motivation Program (NEMP). NEMP is geared towards achieving overall increased productivity of staff of non-profits in developing countries while it seeks to motivate employees for better organizational productivity and towards Personal Development within organization's career space; introduce employees to the win-win scenarios in organizational growth; encourage employees to move from local actors to glocal (think global, act local) players; and give maximum value to donor funding and organizational capacity building.

WHY should I be interested?
NEMP became necessary after our evaluation of the non-profit space in selected developing countries. Recent research and informal discussions held with non-profit employers and employees revealed that most non-profits are worried about staff motivation especially as fundraising becomes more competitive, chief executives or directors wish that employees will have their own kind of passion while ignoring possible limiting conditions, most organizations wish to increase employee efficiency with minimal budget growth and most organizations would love to grow in reach (to become global). Meanwhile, every donor will like to see their grantees become increasingly efficient. Just like the past participant who said, “I now know that I need to read more, network, do a lot of research and get exposure for career enhancement”, NEMP’s beneficiaries leave the sessions renewed and ready for better performance. NEMP is not just another training program, its one that delivers on it’s theme – employee motivation! That explains why 100% of participants provide immediate feedback, 100% give clear examples of how they will immediately apply NEMP tips on the job and 86% ask for additional training from PIN to help advance their career (the other 14% must have run out of ink before they could write that in their evaluation).

HOW does NEMP work?
NEMP holds either on location at organizations’ offices (or agreed locations) or as an open class with participants from various organizations. In sessions held over a one-day or two-day period, the program offers courses that are delivered by experienced facilitators. NEMP modules include Choosing a Non-Profit Career (discussing the difference between work and career, and the concept of the Second Bottom Line), Understanding the Non-Profit Space (featuring a Case Study of non-profit institutions), Personal Growth for Non-Profit Actors (discussing personal development for career advancement), Improving Organizational Efficiency (highlighting the role of participants in organizational efficiency), Situational Leadership 101 (breaking the leadership myth by addressing what individuals, teams and organizations need to do in specific situations) and Becoming Glocal Players (discussing how ‘local’ actors can play on a global stage). NEMP provides pre- and post-program evaluation for participants, and valuable feedback to host organizations.
